A recent change caused an invitation to use the new Computer-aided tagging tool to be displayed to all contributors after the successful upload of an [image|file]. This RfC discusses whether that notice should be displayed, and whether the tool is yet fit for use.

The invitation [should be|has recently been] turned off and should not be retuned until the conclusion of this RfC.

The RfC asks you to comment, and support or opposoe three propositions:

  1. The tool has serious technical flaws. It should not be advertised to users, aside from a limited testing exercise, until a further RfC agrees that there has been sufficient progress in resolving them
  2. The tool must not encourage users to add generic "keywords" or "tags" using depicts (P180); the terms "keyword" or "tag" (and derrivatves) are misleading and must not be used in this context. The tools should only add precise statements of what is depicted.
  3. The tool may add generic "keywords" or "tags", but using a new property for these, separate to depicts (P180).

Rationale[edit]
