CWS was historically developed to reduce expenses for transportation of coal. An idea was to create a coal-water slurry (slurry - mix of solid with liquid, here - coal and water) and transport it from mine to user (typically - power station) using a pipe. 'Liquid' state of CWS allows to use regular pumps for transporting CWS. Most succeful results were achieved in Canada-American transport system. Coal-pipeline was built in 70-s from ... to .. and had a length about 300 miles.
