Mschapink,

Introduction to myself, I am editor on the Dutch Wikipedia site.

Articles which I create on that platform consist sometimes pictures.

Most pictures of them uploaded here, have been taken personnaly by me and are free to use on the internet.

Other pictures I upload, are controlled by my if there any copyrights on them.

In the past some pictures have been removed on Wikimedia Commons, on the grounds which are primarely based by american law.

In most European countries, in my case for the Dutch based Wikipedia, all articles in there are controlled by Dutch law. On the next page you will find the specific articles:

https://nl.wikisource.org/wiki/Auteurswet_-_Hoofdstuk_VII

In article 3 is stated: Het in het eerste lid en in het tweede lid bepaalde geldt tevens voor niet eerder uitgegeven werken die nooit door het auteursrecht zijn beschermd en waarvan de maker meer dan 70 jaren geleden is overleden

Translated in the english language, stated in article 1 of Article 45: works or articles published more than 70 years after the death of it/ her maker are excluded of any copyrigth

If however Wikipedia thinks the articles or pictures I use, which are published on the internet ( I do explain where I got the images from ), are subject to U.S.A. law and are not compliant with that law, I will remove the pictures on Wikimedia Commons.

I have the feeling allthough Wikipadia tells they are a worldwide project, mostly they control the files uploaded on Wiki Commons according to the U.S. law, not the law in which language or country it is used, in my case the Dutch Wkipedia.
