I am the founder of the 2019 Salk Institute for Biological Studies Women in STEM Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon[1]. The United Nations General Assembly has recognized the dearth of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and emphasized the importance of gender equality stating that "the empowerment of women and girls will make a crucial contribution not only to economic development of the world, but to progress across all the goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well." [2] I am committed to increasing the coverage of women in STEM on Wikipedia.
