I do not take pictures for a living. But, when I see something that strikes me, I do my best to capture it.

This shot of the Portland Head Light is not so much about the lighthouse as it is about the keeper's house. The focus is not on the steady beam that has served as a warning to all the ships at sea that have sailed safely past the light. Rather, it is on the people who have lived in the house, maintained the light, and dedicated themselves to a critical, yet sometimes thankless, job of lighthouse keeper.
