In addition to giving permission to change the copyright of indivudal works, organisations and individuals may also give permissions for Wikimedia accounts to upload content without needing to send a permission email each time content is uploaded. This permission can be useful for organisations or individuals who want to upload a large amount of content to Wikimedia Commons, when sending permission emails listing all the files uploaded is impractical. The permission given for an account to upload content can be revoked at any time by sending a follow up email described below. Please note: this email will not revoke permissions for the files which have been uploaded, only for the account to be able to upload more files. To grant permission to an account:

1. Send the permission email drafted below to VRT
2. Receive confirmation from VRT that the permission
3. Upload files using the ???
4. (if needed at a later date) revoke permission for the account to upload new content

Instructions for the organisation

Granting permission

To grant permission to a Wikimedia account to upload content from you or your organisation please send the following email to permissions permissions-commonswikimedia.org with the subject heading 'Account permission' after filling out the name of you or your organisation, the account and your authority (choices in bold). Optionally you may also include; a blanket license for all content your chosen account uploads and/or a specific Wikimedia Commons category you want to add all content to (if you don't know what these are the VRT can help you). You will receive a reply quoting a ticket number, make a careful note of that number, and please use it in any related correspondence.

For indiviudals

I hereby affirm that I NAME nominate the Wikimedia account User:NAMEOFACCOUNT to release my work [under a Wikimedia-compatible licence to be defined with each upload OR choose one: as CC-zero (public domain dedication) | as CC-BY 4.0 | as CC-BY-SA 4.0] and have legal authority in my capacity to [ for CC-zero: release the copyright of | otherwise: grant a license for] those works.

Revoking the account permission

If you would like to revoke the permission of the account to upload content in future please send the following email to permissions-commonswikimedia.org. You can always give permission to accounts in future as needed.

I hereby affirm that [I or I represent NAMEOFORGANIZATION and] would like to revoke the permission previously given to Wikimedia account User:NAMEOFACCOUNT (TICKET NUMBER) to release our work under a Wikimedia compatible licence.

Once an account has been granted the permission they will be given a specific template to be added to all files they upload, including the ticket number. Please add this to all files uploaded by the account under the 'Licensing' heading of all files uploaded as well as the license used. If this template is not included then the files may be deleted.

Creating a template

Please use the following template to create a template for the organization to use including the id for the permission. Please change the template to Category:Media produced by NAMEOFORGANIZATION which will be a subcategory of Category:NAMEOFORGANIZATION.

Media by EXAMPLE, who have granted permission to Commons user User:EXAMPLE to upload the content to Wikimedia Commons. This template categorizes files into Category:NAMEOFORGANIZATION {{PermissionTicket|id=TICKETNUMBER}}

Please note you may withraw permission this permission at any time by using the email template described at ADD_THIS_ONCE_THE_PAGE_IS_PUBLISHED.
