Calgary Coin & Antique Gallery is a coin 👛 store and antique gallery in the city of Calgary in the province of Alberta. This shop hosts on their website a (fairly) large collection of Chinese cash coins with notes and commentaries that I’ve often used as a reference on Wikipedia. As they are a coin shop in a fairly large Albertan town they tend to get a lot of rare specimens and make high quality scans of them. As Calgary Coin is often the only place on the internet where I could find these images of some extremely rare variants of Chinese cash coins I decided to e-mail 📧 Mr. Robert Kokotailo in the hopes that he would allow me to upload his images to Wikimedia Commons. Besides just cast Chinese coins his website contains a lot of images of Ancient Roman, Greek, and other coins which could be useful in countless of articles and surely even outside of Wikimedia projects.

Using your images of coins on the Wikipedia (18 D. 05 M. 2018 A.)[edit]

"Dear Mr. Kokotailo,

I’m a volunteer contributor to Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, I write articles on Ancient Chinese coins and other currencies and found your website a delight as you have a lot of information I could use for Wikipedia, while I am (largely) done now with the monetary history of China and its neighbours I tend to not have a lot of images on Wikipedia that I could use, for images to be usable on Wikipedia they need to have a free license (don’t worry, the author retains copyright but they simply can allow others to use their images and then name them and/or their website when others re-use these images), so I would like to request your permission to use images from your website on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. If you're interested then please e-mail me back.

Yours faithfully,
Trung Quoc Don
