Private cash coins (19 D. 03 M. 2019 A.)

[edit]

"Dear Allan,

I an actually finally done with writing about Asian cash coins, Asian charms, Asian amulets, Asian talismans, and other Asian exonumia (such as emergency token coins and emergency bamboo tally money) on Wikipedia and while I’ve had the good fortune of using a wealth of sources to study from and bring together into Wikipedia there is simply 1 (one) article on cash coins which I really wanted to write about but couldn't, these are the unofficial or “private” cash coins found in Việt Nam of which many exist but few is written. I have been able to write about the usage and different types of mother coins even and the cash coins and “magic coins” (Uang Gobog) of Nusantara with some detail to paint a clear picture of their usage and history, but so far the only field of cash coins of which literature is so scarce that I’ve been unable to piece together an article on it are the privately produced cash coins of Việt Nam.

Have you ever conducted research into them? Are there any reference works which you would advise me to use? My intent is on writing an article titled “List of privately produced Vietnamese cash coins by inscription” or “List of unofficial Vietnamese cash coins by inscription” which would be organised based on calligraphy or probable time period, however I have only been able to scratch the surface of private Vietnamese cash coins.

For comparable lists please see:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Chinese_cash_coins_by_inscription

And

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Japanese_cash_coins_by_inscription

Which were both intensively researched based on sources I had at hand and while the Japanese list contains Japanese private cash coins, I haven't been able to replicate this with Vietnamese cash coins. As you can see these articles contain “great article trees” with many levels of articles on cash coins, with Vietnamese cash coins I also replicated this.

Currently the only article I have partially planned is on the currency units of Vietnamese cash coins. Could you direct me to some experts in private Vietnamese cash coins?

Yours faithfully,
Trung Quoc Don

"Dear Allan,

Yeah, I’ve noticed how complicated they are and decided to give up on them until the experts at Zeno.ru has completely catalogued them. Bruce Griffith and Scott Semans told me that a lot of the cash coins dug up in Việt Nam actually originate from China and/or Nusantara which further complicates them. I’ve actually been able to write in a lot of detail about the cash coins and charms of most of the Far East but couldn't ever get anything on privately produced cash coins found in Việt Nam other than “they exist”.

Thank you for all the information. 😉

Yours faithfully,
Trung Quoc Don
