Aristarik Maro is an Open Knowledge Movement enthusiast from Tanzania. As a Creative Commons Tanzania Chapter Public Lead; he is also a member of Wikimedia User Group in his country.

Professionally,he is an academic librarian with more than 10 years experience in the field. He has taught Librarianship, Information Technology, ICTs, Documentation, Information Storage and Retrieval, Publishing & Book Trade for many years. He is a co-founder of library and information science ongoing programs of the Open University of Tanzania where he taught for many years. He is has worked on research field in East African Community for more than 10 years, versed with huge experience in the Lake Victoria basin. He is involved in many international projects like MAKUTANO a Finish-based research project on conflict resolution among forest communities in Tanzania.
