I don't like this template. you cannot provide parameters to {{VN}}.
Also, someone asked me to modify {{VN}} to replace {{On Wikidata}}: I added the 1/2 links to wikidata with the wikidata logo.

- Liné1 the idea is to have a single template that provides uniform output for all the metadata that can be brought from wikidata with just the q-code. When more and more templates rely on Wikidata it would be bad to have bunch of templates on a page each one with different q-code parameter. A single template ensures that all those template would have the same q-code. it also encourages adding metadata to the wikidata not here. I was hoping to maybe add in the future Wikidata based {{Taxonavigation}} and something similar to {{Authority control}} but for taxa databases. That is the basic idea, but if they are not good I can always replace this template. --Jarekt (talk) 21:28, 7 February 2017 (UTC)

- There are many reason why I don't like this template at all:
- {{VN}} checks the wiki syntax to see if it is used multiple times in the page. See Accipiter. With your template it is not possible. It could generate a lot of trouble.
- With you template, you cannot pass parameters to {{VN}}
- I don't see the interest of {{On Wikidata}} when {{VN}} is present:
- {{VN}} displays 2 links to wikidata (Wikidata Category item + wikidata taxon item: See Category:Entiminae) when {{On Wikidata}} displays only 1 link.
- {{VN}} displays
(twice when needed) - {{VN}} already does the same as {{Interwiki from wikidata}} => so this is done twice for nothing with {{Wikidata taxon}}
- I am really willing to improve {{VN}} so that {{On Wikidata}} is not needed on taxon pages

- Ok, I will replace {{Wikidata taxon}} use with {{VN}}. And possibly revisit the issue if/when other templates began relying on wikidata. As I said, I was just trying to prevent need for many templates with the same q-code and have them bundled into a single one. --Jarekt (talk) 12:40, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
