Help with dates[edit]
Please see this test gallery page I made. The dates are not displayed correctly.
- For Wikidata item d:Q77355984, the date is entered as 1625 with precision = century (so it appears as 17th century), with qualifier refine date = first half. What should appear is "first half, 17th century" or at least "17th century". What appears is "1625s".
- For item d:Q77351581, the date is entered as 1650 with precision = century. What should appear is "17th century". What appears is "1650s".
- For item d:Q77357071, the date is displayed as "17th century". What should appear is "17th century". What appears is "1700s".
I know century dates are difficult in WD (because 17th century = 1700 with precision = century). Can this be fixed for this template?

- @PKM: Thanks for the ping, good to be aware (and I hope you're well!). Yeah, I can imagine it's possible (but a pain) for poor Magnus to adjust this, although ideally at some point I'd hope we get to a more refined native date format inside Wikidata itself...? - @Spinster: I am doing fine here in LA! Hope all is well with you and yours.
- I note that the Wikidata Infobox template handles these dates correctly (see Category:The Abduction of Helen from a set of The Story of Troy MET 1979.282). I will ping @Magnus Manske, Jura1, Lockal, Multichill, Jarekt, and Mike Peel: just as a heads-up - perhaps there is date code that can be reused on this template?
- I want to say that this has *huge* possibilities - clearly the test gallery page is a much more effective way to display a tapestry series that is split among multiple collections than the simple category display is. There are many more complicated tapestries series that could use this approach if the date display were resolved. - PKM (talk) 19:25, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- The template is not doing the formating, User:ListeriaBot is doing that. You could file a bug with Magnus. Multichill (talk) 19:33, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- @PKM: Give {{Wikidata Gallery}} / {{Wikidata list/Gallery item}} a go, that should already do what you want. It uses Listeria to generate the list of items, then WikidataIB to pull the info from Wikidata and format it, the same as the infobox does. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:36, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- Full demo:
{{subst:Wikidata Gallery|property=P361|qid=Q77347174}}
-> User:Mike Peel/sandbox2 (you have to press the manual update link to run Listeria, otherwise that's as-generated). Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 19:53, 19 March 2020 (UTC)- @Multichill: "The template is not doing the formating..." Ah. Good to know, thank you.
- @Mike Peel: That's exactly what I needed, thank you! Now I will try some more complicated versions of these. - PKM (talk) 20:53, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

- @Mike Peel: Is it possible to set a 200px image size and to sort by P195 using {{Wikidata Gallery}}? - PKM (talk) 21:30, 19 March 2020 (UTC)
- @PKM: I've changed the default image size to 200px. Sorting you can adjust after saving the gallery for the first time, it just works like a normal listeria query then, and you have control over sparql and the listeria settings. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 08:24, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Mike Peel: Terrific, thank you! - PKM (talk) 04:41, 21 March 2020 (UTC)

@Mike Peel, Multichill, and Spinster: Working great! See Triunfos y batallas del Archiduque Alberto. - PKM (talk) 21:54, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
