Change layout?[edit]

I am not sure how to fiddle with these auto-translated templates, but I was thinking that something like what I have below would be a lot more consistent looking with some of the more recent source / info templates that are out there and wanted to see if anyone else agreed. --Admrboltz (talk) 07:33, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Might be useful to keep the direct quotes from policy statements... AnonMoos (talk) 08:50, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Kind of makes it bloated, but it still works, just hate that big white space on the first line (for me at least) because of the long direct link to the project scope. ---Admrboltz (talk) 15:37, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The revised version is fine. I don't see the display issue you referred to in my skin/browser setup... AnonMoos (talk) 19:21, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not against this change (it definitely looks better than this "toc" style), so feel free to update Template:Userpageimage/layout. However, keep in mind that some people here don't like en.wikipedia and their style, so other people than me might not agree with this change. If you decide to do it, please make sure you do the following: add direction: {{Dir|{{{lang|}}}}} to the CSS code, this is important because some languages go from right to left, and this template can find out which direction is the right one if you tell it the language code. Furthermore please put the text within {{lang|{{{lang|}}}|{{{text|empty}}}}}, because this is important as this helps to find out for the metadata which language the text is in. Also, you need to embed the language links so that people can switch the languages (for example all IPs use the English skin, and with the language links they can see their preferred language). The last thing would be that you make the file unclickable using the option link=. Please don't get scared away by all this, it's really not that complicated. Let me know if there are some questions left. --The Evil IP address (talk) 19:46, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I was bold and made the change... I still need to fix the link= have to poke around {{TS/ombox}} a bit to figure that one out... --Admrboltz (talk) 22:02, 16 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done, as well as some other stuff. --The Evil IP address (talk) 15:15, 17 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You aren't supposed to use that template.. that's why it says "Please note that at this moment there is no consensus on the use of these. Things may change. See Commons:Template standardization for more info. Do not use in a production environment just yet." Why do you want it to clash with everything else? Then be bold and undo it; noting on TS mentions that I can't do it - I was bold. Shoot me. --Admrboltz (talk) 15:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
