Hidden categories

Autocategorization

I don't think it is necessary to categorize into "Category:Media needing categories" and into the subcategory "Category:Media needing categories as of" therefore I changed this [1]. Are there any objections? --Nachcommonsverschieber (talk) 18:44, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

I object to leaving these categories with no parent category, yes. Generally all categories should have a parent category, plus it makes them easier to find. Why do you want to remove them? JesseW (talk) 06:22, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Ah, so you want to leave the images in the dated categories, but not in the toplevel one? I also object to that, because having them in the toplevel one allows one to go to a particular letter of the alphabet, and categorize from there, which can help find bunches of images to categorize in the same place. Also, it gives a nice overview of how many images remain to be done. JesseW (talk) 23:20, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

I don't understand what you are talking about. The template does not put the category into various categor_ies_. It puts all the catgories into one toplevel and all of them into _one_ subcatgory. --Nachcommonsverschieber (talk) 09:31, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

We are clearly talking past each other. I observe that, currently, "Category:Media needing categories" contains the categories that include this template, and "Category:Media needing categories as of" does not exist (and contains nothing). Most of these categories are also in Category:Media needing categories requiring human attention -- is that the one you wanted to change? JesseW (talk) 07:23, 19 December 2013 (UTC)

I mixed up the categories in the begining. The template puts the "categories:Media needing categories as of" into Category:Media needing categories and Category:Media needing categories requiring human attention which is a subcategory of the former.
