Links[edit]

I think it would be better if this didn't link the synonyms, at least not by default. I would think most are or should be red links or category redirects. Links should only be used when Commons's categories don't treat something as a synonym even though some other database/reference does. I wanted to use this as it's a lot neater than using all the formatting syntax but I don't what to link to categories that shouldn't exist (or at best, are redirects to the current page). Maybe you can have it check to see if the synonym page/category exists and link to it if it does. I don't know if there's a way to tell if it's a category redirect, but if there is, have it only create the link if it contains any contents or redirects elsewhere. I completely agree with Voxii. The redlinks are unsightly and would encourage users to make pages which shouldn't exist, or which would only be category redirects to the current page. Strobilomyces (talk) 12:56, 20 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
