Cat loops[edit]

@Tuvalkin and WOSlinker: Why is Category:ↀ (numeral) made a member of Category:ↀ, which itself is a redirect to Category:ↀ (numeral)? --R'n'B (talk) 19:20, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • R'n'B, that’s an unwanted artifact of the functionality that makes the same cat link for all other Roman numeral signs. Those are mostly letters, either regular (IVXLCDM) or fancy (JUWↃ), and there is the need to link to both, say, Category:V (numeral) and Category:V, et c. The problem is that "ↀ", and a few other Roman numeral signs, are not coopted letters with a non-numerical, wider semantics, but rather they are exclusively numerals, just like, say Category:6 (numeral) — and that’s why the redirects exist. The template will have to be tweaked to cater for this situation, maybe by adding an if-clause around the transclusion of single symbol categories. -- Tuválkin 22:26, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Auto categorization[edit]

Hi, wouldn't it be possible that the template automatically adds the categories: Roman numerals including {MDCLXI} depending on the given string? --Arnd (talk) 09:00, 6 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Tuvalkin, maybe you can help? --Arnd (talk) 11:54, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, every time I add those manually I think it should be done by the template, as others were in the past. It should be easy, as it already checks for things like the presence of "CCCC" or "LL". I’ll work on it. -- Tuválkin 14:50, 23 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
