Change the text[edit]

The template says: "This image is in the public domain because it is an SVG representation of an ancient script.". Why an "SVG rappresentation"? If the image is a PNG rappresentation it isn't in the public domain? I propose to change it whith "his image is in the public domain because it is a representation of an ancient script".--dega180 (talk) 10:38, 1 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is just pointing out that ancient scripts (and the 'fonts' used to render them) are an exemption to the note at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:PD-font, because they predate copyright and therefore can be used in vector form even though modern fonts can be copyrighted in vector form (under certain conditions of originality which have to do with *technical* specification, not that of *appearance*), but not raster form (again, with certain stipulations). I agree, dega180, that the wording should me clearer and more explicit, however. Arlo James Barnes 21:16, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
