Personality rights

However, this request cannot be meant as a legally binding copyright restriction on their re-use, as all the rights to this image were released; rather, it is a caution against the use of celebrity images to imply product endorsement, drawn from civil rights law, and is unrelated to copyright. As of Feb 2013, works from individual photographers are no longer restricted

I started a discussion at Commons talk:Licensing, but got no responses, so I went ahead with this change. Basically, the "Rights and Restrictions Information" pages for the individual LOOK staff photographers (e.g., [1], but I checked every single one) no longer state that These photographs may not be used for "advertising or trade purposes", so it is no longer necessary to block the uploads of certain photographers. —howcheng {chat} 23:00, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

All right, but these pages now state "...copying allowed by "fair use". Fair use is not allowed on Commons. So did anything change?

You are misreading it. It actually states, Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Subject to P&P policy on copying. In other words, copying allowed by "fair use" is an example of what they mean by the term "reproduction". If you look on the Rights and Restrictions page for the G.G. Bain collection, which is unambiguously PD, you will find the exact same definition of the term "reproduction". Furthermore, other R&R pages (e.g., [2]) define what the "P&P policy on copying" is: ...which prohibits photocopying of original artworks. —howcheng {chat} 12:44, 3 February 2013 (UTC)
