According to article 497 of Civil Code of Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist duration of copyright was the author's lifetime and for 25 years after his death. The new Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Copyright and Related Rights entered into force on 23 oct 1996. According to new law duration of copyright was the author's lifetime and for 50 years after his death. The law amended in 2008 and duration of copyright becomes the author's lifetime and for 70 years after his death. And the Article 25.3 (amendment) was added in 2008: Article 25.3 “Duration of protection determined by this Law shall be applied to all works of which term of protection has not expired until this Law enters into force. This law entered into force on 23 oct 1996 and until this time duration of copyright was the author's lifetime and for 25 years after his death, so if the author died before 1971 (1996-25=1971), his work within the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan shall be considered public domain.--Melikov Memmed (talk) 10:24, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
