Redundant "The above coordinates are missing from linked Wikidata item…"

In some cases, when {{Object location}} is transcluded in a file description page (i.e. File: namespace), the template displays redundant frame with the text quoted above and a link to a nonexistent Wikidata item. It seems that only files with associated structured data are affected, e.g. File:Paradise shelduck portrait, New Zealand.jpg, File:Cherry Resort inside Temi Tea Garden, Namchi, Sikkim.jpg, File:4 cilindros y museo BMW, Múnich, Alemania 2012-04-28, DD 02.JPG. --jdx Re: 07:56, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

It's from Module:Coordinates. The nonexistent item is "M" followed by the Page ID of the file description page, but I don't know what is making it replace the Wikidata item - Wikidata's Q numbers are not the same as its Page IDs (for example Q17678273 is Wikidata page 19274354). Many of those files appear in this category:Pages with local coordinates and missing Wikidata coordinates. Maybe someone could fix this. --Arnd (talk) 07:39, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
@Jdx: thanks for reporting. That is an interesting side-effect of a recently fixed bug, and it will eventually affect most files on Commons. I will try to fix today or tomorrow. --Jarekt (talk) 18:09, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
✓ Done New version is rolled out. Let me know if there are any issues. --Jarekt (talk) 04:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

Geo-coordinates and structured data

The Structured Data team is making progress wrapping up geo-coordinates support, and would like your feedback (if you have any) on the proposed designs. Please check out the Phabricator task for mockups, rationale, and other input. Thanks! Keegan (WMF) (talk) 20:03, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

View this and other nearby images

I'm not seeing any nearby images in OSM when this template is on a photo description. Even though there are many nearby images. Am I doing something wrong? Jim.henderson (talk) 15:36, 15 August 2020 (UTC)

For over a week now, this has worked. However, I am not seeing the camera headings in the map. Knowing where the camera is pointing, as was the function long ago, can be a useful feature. Maybe when the points are ungrouped? Jim.henderson (talk) 00:21, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Jim.henderson The way the data from {{Location}} templates is being used by other tools is quite unclear to me (we should have it documented somewhere). I agree that seeing the headings would be great and being able to see nearby images shortly after they are added. However those are features of those tools and I do not think authors and maintainers of those tools monitor this talk page. --Jarekt (talk) 13:05, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Wikimap

View all coordinates using: OpenStreetMap
View this and other nearby images on: OpenStreetMap

These should say on Wikimap, not OpenStreetMap! OSM.org looks quite different. Jidanni (talk) 05:48, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it is confusing, as we have several wiki tools based on OSM. They are all different and might display things a little differently but they are all based on OSM data. Also OSM offers many layers and looks but what is unique is the underlying data, so calling our link OpenStreetMap is more about the data than the display. --Jarekt (talk) 13:23, 28 September 2020 (UTC)

Google Earth linking broken

The Google Earth links generated by this template always seem to lead to a "404 - Not Found" error page. -- Veikk0.ma (talk) 12:50, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

@Para and Sladen: I will need some help here. I see that the link like "https://tools.wmflabs.org/geocommons/earth.kml?latdegdec=038.834533&londegdec=-079.366517&scale=10000&commons=1" should be changed to "https://geocommons.toolforge.org/geocommons.kml?latdegdec=038.834533&londegdec=-079.366517&scale=10000&commons=1" (is that correct?). That new link returns KML file but that file does not seem to work for me. Can you fix it? Perhaps:

{{Edit request}} Please remove the Google Earth link, or follow Jarekt's suggestions above as the link is broken. Many thanks, Ed6767 (talk) 23:51, 26 September 2020 (UTC)

✓ Done I removed links to Google Earth and Procticirama tool as they were dead. --Jarekt (talk) 04:15, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
