Stupid[edit]

The text "(...)its text has been converted to paths, to inhibit translation", as envisioned by User:Sarang, is condescending, mean and wrong. To put it mildly. Text is, as far as I know, converted to path in SVGs to prevent the text from looking misshapen or even misplaced when a weaker platform tries to render it for its endusers. Even Wikipedia isnt very good at that. Since user:Sarangs insult could end up under every single one of my svg´s - I stop uploading new stuff. Alexpl (talk) 07:28, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexpl: You are right, it is not a good choice of explainng text; since longer I intend to change it from "to inhibit", which may postulate an intention of the author, to just "inhibiting" which just mentions the consequence.
Igen/ptx offers many variations (see the docu) to specify exactly the path text usage, as e,g,
Gnome-mime-application-x-font-ttf
This SVG file uses the path text method.
It will be no problem to say in addition e.g. "because of librsvg limitations" – would you like to have it? -- sarang사랑 08:15, 12 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
AFAIK you have no User:Alexpl/common.js which means that you don't use the benefits of the script, all validation notes at your files are either made by others, or you are making them "by hand".
@Sarang: It does not make much sense for me to do any changes to the Igen code because somebody will further change/improve it (or one of its templates) at some point in the future, altering the text displayed under every single affected file again. I couldn´t anticipate 2018 what {{Igen|Inkscape|0|+|<|s=}} would end up looking like after you started this template in 2020. Removing Igen from "my" svg´s seems to be the only logical consequence, since I can not monitor those templates 24/7. Alexpl (talk) 09:16, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
