Functionality[edit]

Whatever this function promises to do, it doesn't do it for me. The usage {{IMO|0100052}} generates the following output:

https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:IMO_sources&withJS=IMO_magic.js&imon=0100052

which doesn't provide anything meaningful. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:49, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We are still looking for an admin to complete setting it up MediaWiki talk:IMO magic.js‎‎. --  Docu  at 14:54, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Should be ok now. --  Docu  at 20:28, 29 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It's hard to say because I don't know what it's supposed to achieve. The code above now generates
https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Commons:IMO_sources&withJS=MediaWiki:IMO_magic.js&imon=0100052

which gives eight interwikilinks of the form

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search/IMO_0100052

and one external link

http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/4/vrqs-srib/l.aspx?lang=e&imo_ship_id=0100052

none of which produce any meaningful information. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 07:45, 30 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The conclusion may be that:
  • (1) Wikipedia has no information on that ship
  • (2) The ship was never (or currently isn't) under Canadian flag
  • or (3) the IMO number is incorrect.
For the Canadian link to work, try one of the Canadian ships on
http://toolserver.org/~daniel/WikiSense/CategoryIntersect.php?wikifam=commons.wikimedia.org&basecat=Ships+of+Canada&basedeep=3&mode=cs&tagcat=Ships+by+IMO+number&tagdeep=3&go=Scan&format=html&userlang=en
Feel free to expand Commons:IMO sources. --  Docu  at 08:26, 30 June 2012 (UTC) (edited)[reply]
