wrong attribution

[edit]

diff "at the German language Wikipedia" was most commonly never specified like this at the dewp upload. That is essentially a copyright violation if we provide the wrong attribution. I would simply revert but what if someone did really use this in dewp and it was transferred to Commons with using this template?

As this template is wrong I need to change {{GFDL-user-de|GuentherZ|migration=relicense}} to {{GFDL|migration=relicense}} in many of my transfers now. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 17:35, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What exactly is the problem with this change? Almost (all) other GFDL-user-xx templates use this format. --Denniss (talk) 18:03, 6 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is that it claims a specific attribution which was never specified like this in the most cases. The attribution is a license requirement of all cc licenses here. Taken strictly a wrong attribution maybe could even make the license completely void and make all uses of this images copyvios. If there was no specific attribution specified there shouldn't be given any. Probably the author wants to be attributed like he but his name in the author field (at least this is the most reasonable assumption if no specific attribution is given. So if I write Petasuteima Schrater in the author field the license field here in Commons should surely not say: "attribution: Saibo at the German language Wikipedia". The field is there just for additional display of the registered username the image was uploaded with at the local wiki, nothing more. If an image requires specific attribution (or the uploader is not the copyright holder) you have to use the standard GFDL template, yes. But this applies to all other GFDL-user-xx templates as well. --Denniss (talk) 03:06, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I try it with an example: wrong attribution (maybe a copyvio): "Namensnennung: Klingon aus de.wikipedia.org" but this is correct. Other templates may be wrong as well - yes. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 00:30, 8 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
