IMO, this template is downright ugly. It – and the PotD templates – should be canged to have a more æsthetic layout, like e.g. de:Vorlage:Exzellentes_Bild. Simple, yet much more elegant than this. Jon Harald Søby 12:26, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

FP on other wikis?[edit]

Is there a version of this that can be used for pictures that are FP on other wikis? If not, could this one have a parameter added so that it can be used to say which wiki the image is featured on? Eg:

Featured picture star This is a featured picture, which means that members of the community have identified it as one of the finest images on {{XYZ wiki}}, adding significantly to its accompanying article. If you have a different image of similar quality, be sure to upload it using the proper free license tag, add it to a relevant article, and nominate it.

Take a look at Template:Featured picture on. --тнояsтеn 11:42, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Link to nomination[edit]

Hi. I would try but am not sure. Can you make the "nomination" link for Image:Raccoon (Procyon lotor) 2.jpg go to Commons:Featured pictures candidates/Image:Raccoon (Procyon lotor) 2.jpg? Thank you. -Susanlesch 18:19, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Add star to top right[edit]

Would it be a good idea to use this template to add a 'featured' star to the top right, in a similar way to how the English wikipedia featured pictures are (eg en:Image:Mulberry_Street_NYC_c1900_LOC_3g04637u_edit.jpg). It's not that important, but i think it makes it clearer immediately that it is featured rather than scrolling through to the templates section. (The same could also be done for Quality images too.) Which one's better?[edit]

Parameter[edit]

Someone who knows how these parameters work (I refuse to dwelve that deep into the madness) should add another parameter for a full nomination page. Older nominations were under "Commons:Featured pictures candidates/" so the current subpage parameter is useless. --Dori - Talk 22:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It should be working now without parameter. But it probably takes some time with the cache. I've seen it working in a view examples immediately, but in others that I recently had opened I only see it in the preview. -- Cecil 02:23, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not working here (or other recent FPs that I looked at), I even edited the page. --Dori - Talk 03:25, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Stupid brackets. Now it should. -- Cecil 06:59, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep it works, thanks! It's been an annoyance of mine for a while. --Dori - Talk 14:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn’t we just replace this template with

{{Assessments|com=1}}

? That template is autotranslated (and more general). --Mormegil (talk) 09:08, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No! There are serious reservation about that template. See discussions on its talk page. --Tony Wills (talk) 04:18, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
