Category[edit]

Should this template and {{Not done}} be in Category:Message templates or Category:Image with comment templates or both?

How about both..? Yuval Y § Chat § 19:55, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that works. :-) Thanks! Rocket000 05:18, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Multilinguality[edit]

German Wikipedia had template localizationable. Since Wikimedia Commons is multilingual project, I suggest this template contain localized strings. I will change this template if there is no objection. Thank you. Kwj2772 (msg) 10:13, 16 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm all for this. We're multilingual, so do it. However, I would reprotect all full protected templates to semi if possible, so that people can add possible translations. It's probably best to make all these Commons equivalents multilingual;just steal the translations from de.wikipedia, they should be good enough. --The Evil IP address (talk) 15:03, 19 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok for this one, but please don't autotranslate any of the vote templates. These are used in places where we need to watch the number of template calls. For example, see Commons:Deletion requests/2009/08. It currently can only load half the requests. If you view the source you'll see we hit the post-expand limit. This happen last year too because of the amount of requests, but this time I think it's because some of our templates ({{Delh}} in particular) got a lot heavier. Changing french translation[edit]

How about removing the "C'est" part of it? It's not the equivalent. (The template is "done" not "it's done"). Esby (talk) 00:04, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just removed it, the ✓ Done template was already using this version anyway. Also gonna redirect it to this one.Esby (talk) 08:25, 29 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanto[edit]

Please add the Esperanto version:

| eo = Farite

Thanks. ThomasPusch (talk) 08:54, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I unprotected the page. Feel free to add the strings. --The Evil IP address (talk) 10:31, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Text vs. Image[edit]

I'm thinking of perhaps replacing the image in this template with a textual form instead. Below a table with the current template, 3 high-used tick-images (including the one currently in thet template on top) and 3 high-used characters to make ticks/chech marks.

current image text
✓ Done  Done
 Done
 Done
 Done
 Done
 Done

Just an idea, but what do you think ? –Krinkletalk 12:40, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

 Support using a text-based done symbol. --Slomox (talk) 16:46, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are we sure that all symbols will be displayed what ever is the os / codepage of the user? Esby (talk) 17:02, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The text-based symbols look awful to me, especially the first one. I object to using them barring a compelling reason to do so. –Juliancolton | Talk 17:37, 25 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tatar[edit]

{{Editprotected}}

Image size[edit]

Any objection to adding a size= parameter in order to set the image size? So that it can be neatly used e.g. in superscripts. Cf. current ✓ Done and possible ✓ Done ~ {{Done|size=8px}}. YLSS (talk) 13:42, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

hr[edit]

{{Editprotected}} Please, add translation in croatian: |hr = Riješeno. Thanks.--MaGa 16:18, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@MaGa: It has been already done and works as expected, e.g. {{Done|lang=hr}} gives ✓ Riješeno. --jdx Re: 22:28, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ia[edit]

{{Edit request}} The Interlingua translation means "Finished", not "Done". Please change Finite to Facite. Thanks. – McDutchie (talk) 15:03, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done Awesome! Thank you! ~riley (talk) 21:46, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

{Answered}[edit]

{{Edit request}} Hi there, I bumped into case where I want to tag "Answered" rather than "Done", so I create the template {{Answered}}. But I'am forbidden to create the labels :

en: Answered
fr: Répondu.

Help please~~ --Yug (talk) 21:40, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Hello Yug, this is not as how translation works here, I suggest to use {{LangSwitch}}, see here: COM:I18N. -- User: Perhelion 19:07, 4 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

More templates[edit]

{{Done}} and {{Not done}} are often used in answers to requests, as e.g. {{Edit request}}. Other possible answers might be "To do" or "In work"; there are no such templates? -- sarang사랑 18:36, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Change to a translatable template[edit]

It is requested that an edit or modification be made to this protected page.
Administrators/template editors: Please apply <nowiki> or {{Tl}} to the tag after the request is fulfilled.

This template currently uses the translatable message feedback-close. It may look like a useful hack that reuses translation work that was already done, but actually, it's not great. That message is intended for a button in a dialog box that signifies the end of a wizard. It has the same text as "Done" in English, but in some other languages it has a different translation, which doesn't fit the context in which this message is used.

There are several other messages in MediaWiki extension that say "Done" in English, but I don't recommend using any of them. Most of them have the same problem: their context is more similar to that of feedback-close and not to the one needed on talk pages.

I recommend simply changing this template to a translatable page, with <translate> tags.

(The corresponding template on Wikidata uses a module that does a switch. That's better than using a message, but also over-complicated.) Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 05:19, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
