#ifexist[edit]

Are all the ifexists necessary? Why not just use {{#if:{{{1|}}}|... ? I would change it but I don't want to break any bots. Rocket000(talk) 07:41, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. If you wanted a <gallery> you can use {{#tag:gallery|...}}. Rocket000(talk) 07:43, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
ifexists avoid red links; I made it because of that. You break no bot if you change that. I don't know if we should use a gallery... What do you think?--Luxo 08:30, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok, I see. You want it to remove links automatically if the derivatives get deleted, right? Otherwise why would you add non-existent derivatives? :) As for the gallery, I would say no. I just mentioned it because I saw you try it in the history. It would depend on the images and how they related if a gallery would be desired or not. We could make it an option, though. Rocket000(talk) 08:56, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
right, we could make a option. {{DerivativeVersions|...|gallery=true}} or something. I will not add non-existent derivatives and the bot checks every derivatives he add for this, but sometimes images get deleted by evil admins ;) But we could remove deleted images "by hand" in the source, that's right (and cleaner).--Luxo 09:35, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bot corruption, Template limitation[edit]

I removed the bot's addition of this template to Carlos_Santana.jpg, as the reference was already there. I might have used this template in the other instances, but I don't see that this the template allows for comments. —Danorton (talk) 17:07, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery[edit]

I think that a gallery view of the derivative works would be more interesting than the current list format. I've made the necessary changes to the code in my sandbox and would like to copy it here if there's no opposition. Capmo (talk) 00:08, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried your gallery=true sandbox code and it's great (I did not save it). Can we implement it? I always use galleries, prefer it over list formats. The thing is, I would put the gallery in the other_versions parameter rather than the source parameter. Galleries in the middle of the {{Information}} template aren't pretty, so should there still be some sort of information in the source parameter...? – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 05:20, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wait, I just removed "gallery=true" from my test and the gallery still appeared. This would change thousands (or whatever) of template uses, which I don't think I agree with. This should be a voluntary change. See link (my talk page for now) for the example. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 05:21, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Faster knowledge[edit]

If the file is an image it should display "[[Image:...]]" —User000name 01:26, 2 April 2016 (UTC) No, that's deprecated. -- sarang사랑 12:35, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Village pump[edit]

It is suggested to use <gallery> format. Please see Village pump. -- Geagea (talk) 21:46, 30 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gallery[edit]

Would it be okay to add the option to create a gallery of the derivative works? I would prefer to see all the images right away instead of having to click on each one. Thanks. SharkD  Talk  20:31, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Syntax error[edit]

Hi Sarang, thank you for reworking the template. Could you please check this edit? There is a wrong syntax with <div/> and I have no idea how it should be fixed. Due to this error the template is now in Category:Pages using invalid self-closed HTML tags. Thanks a lot. Raymond 18:11, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about. The tag should now be off. -- sarang사랑 18:37, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Confirmed. Thank you. Raymond 18:38, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
