Problem with spaces in file names[edit]

Hi Magnus. Some of the links in this template seem to be unhappy with files that include spaces in their names. See [1] for an example. Rupert Clayton (talk) 16:44, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Magnus Manske: (or anyone) Could this template pull labels from Wikidata, rather than (or as well as) displaying a Q ID? Andy Mabbett (talk) 20:25, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A second parameter... and a side-effect[edit]

I added support for a second parameter in order to allow some instructions to be supplied as part of the template. However it has an unexpected side-effect: CropTool fails to parse the Qitem ID if there is a second parameter... I opened an issue about this, but can't tell when it's going to be fixed.

In the mean time, just use sparingly that second attribute, since it will need to be removed manually before using CropTool and its special handling of {{Crop for Wikidata}}. Thanks --Laddo (talk) 17:06, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about this requests for crops?[edit]

Is there a place on Commons or Wikidata, where this function, respectively the idea, to crop "portraits" from group pictures, is discussed? Although I don't think anyone who makes these crops will care, as a photographer whose pictures frequently get treated that way I still would like to voice my strong opposition. In some cases it's ok. In other cases the "portraits" created that way are horrible. As a result I already stopped uploading pictures where I'd have to fear, someone will crop a "portrait" from a picture that is just bad. --Tsui (talk) 20:36, 25 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
