The template should be extended to deal with gifs as well--Kmhkmh (talk) 01:51, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It does, see e.g. Construction of Rhombic hexecontahedron from Rhombic Triacontahedron.gif -- sarang사랑 08:46, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just see, that you declared e.g. Parabel spurkurve animation.gif and Thales kreis animation.gif to be vector graphic files with {{Created with GeoGebra|v}}, instead of with {{Created with GeoGebra|n}} as raster graphics. Wrong declarations like that, explicitely done by users, are not checked and corrected. You should use the script, then it will be done better -- sarang사랑 09:43, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Actually that's a bit of misunderstanding. The template does not fully distinguish between png and gifs, which my question/request was about. In fact currently current is simply categorizes gifs as pngs created with Geogebra (hidden category), which is simply a false or at a misleading categorization.
The generated hidden categories imho should look something like:
  • vector graphic
    • svg
    • ...
  • raster graphic
    • png
    • gif
    • ...

or simply flat case (using an already existing category tree:

  • svg
  • png
  • gif
  • ...
