This is the talk page for discussing improvements to Template:Abusefilter-warning-baduploads.
[edit]

If you give three links, it's extremely unlikely that the user will read or even click the licensing page. It's especially bad to link the UploadWizard as the user will be very likely to immediately upload whatever they have already tried to upload. Instead we could just link Commons:First steps, perhaps. @Nemo bis: If you believe that the file complies with the Wikimedia Commons policies, see the guide.? --Steinsplitter (talk) 07:13, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Once it is stable i will move it to the Template namespace to allow translation with the translate extension. --Steinsplitter (talk) 07:16, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, or See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons. --Nemo 16:03, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As expected, pageviews are stable: apparently, out of thousands hits of the filter, only an undetectable portion has clicked. :( Nemo 13:47, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Your" camera

[edit]

@Steinsplitter: Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera... - the camera can be borrowed, so it does not have to be yours. --Chrumps (talk) 09:25, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Content of varning

[edit]

Often some user asks what this message means, because uploaded file is their own work. The problem is, because of small resolution, but this information is nowhere in message. JAn Dudík (talk) 11:52, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please change

meets [[COM:L|our licensing standards]]: Upload

to

meets [[c:Special:MyLanguage/Commons:Licensing|our licensing standards]]: Upload

to link directly to the readers language's version of Commons:Licensing. The tvar is defined with the same content earlier, so can be reused, and reduces the work for translators since the link target doesn't need to be translated.
