Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you for your contributions.

It has come to my attention that the name of the account from which you are editing from an account suggests that it might belong to an organisation. While on Wikimedia Commons organisational accounts representing a legal entity or multiple are permitted, such accounts have to be confirmed to be legitimately associated with the organisation in question. This is to prevent fraudulent impersonations of organisations. You can confirm the legitimacy of this account through the OTRS by sending an e-mail to "permissions-commons@wikimedia.org". The email must come from an account associated with the organization in question. Editing without doing so may result in a precautionary cessation of editing privileges and the deletion of uploaded works as we cannot be sure if this account truly represents Welcomeorganisation and these measures are done to protect Welcomeorganisation from possible imposters.

(By the way, the English-language Wikipedia doesn't allow organisational accounts, so please don't use this account when editing there, including placing an image on an article page! Wikipedias in other languages have a variety of policies, please check the policies for any Wikipedias that are relevant for you.)

As you may be eager to "donate your works to Wikipedia" you must be able to confirm that either your organisation possesses the copyright to the works you wish to upload to Wikimedia Commons or that they are in the public domain.

  • Copyrights of works commissioned by your organisation from an independent contractor typically are not be owned by your organisation unless there has been an explicit transfer of rights. Depending on terms of employment, this may also be true of some work by your employees. These rules differ per country and territory. Remember, only the owner of the copyright can grant a license. If the copyright-holder has indicated a license on line, please indicate the relevant URL when uploading the photo (or edit the file page after uploading to indicate it). If there is no such online indication, then that copyright-holder may have to go through OTRS to clarify that it is, indeed, their intent to grant such a license.

Notice: Works uploaded to Wikimedia Commons may be used by anyone for any reason however they want (subject to restrictions about personality rights, trademarks, etc.). So if you have any commercial interest in your works be aware that once uploaded to this website you irrevocably allow anyone else to use your copyrighted works for-profit. You can set up your own terms for attribution by re-users, for example they must link to your website, your webshop, name your organisation, etc. but re-users can do whatever they want with these works as long as they follow these licensing terms.

Also feel free to ask a question on my Talk page. I will answer your questions as far as I can! You are also free to ask a question at the help desk or village pump, you could otherwise add {{Helpme}} on your talk page to ask for help here, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments by ending them with four tildes (~~~~).
