United Arab Emirates Warning sign

Copyright warning: A subject in this image is protected by copyright.

This image features an architectural or artistic work, photographed from a public space in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Except for broadcast programmes, there are no Freedom of Panorama exemptions in the UAE, which means that they cannot be photographed freely for anything other than personal purposes. However, images depicting buildings during construction showing incomplete prominent exterior designs, and those subject to de minimis, are permitted.

If a copyrighted architectural or artistic work is contained in this image and it is a substantial reproduction, this photo cannot be licensed under a free license, and will be deleted. Framing this image to focus on the copyrighted work is also a copyright violation.

Before reusing this content, ensure that you have the right to do so. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you do not infringe someone else's copyrights. See our general disclaimer for more information.

Usage

{{NoFoP-UAE}}

This template should be used in the file namespace only, please do not use it in the category or gallery namespace, since it is written to refer an individual image, not a collection of images. {{FOP-buildings-category warning}} is available as a customisable warning notice for categories of buildings.

This is not a speedy deletion template, and the addition of this template to an image does not necessarily mean it should be deleted. Users wishing to delete an image on grounds of the lack of freedom of panorama in the UAE should file a request at Commons:Deletion requests. Users may add this template to their own uploads to indicate they are aware of the freedom of panorama situation in the UAE and believe that their upload complies with guidelines, for instance because all copyrighted works in the image are subject to de minimis. Users may also add this template to an image uploaded by another user which contains copyrighted architectural or artistic work, regardless of whether or not it complies with relevant guidelines.

Please do not use this template on an image:

  • that was photographed from a private place, since this template describes an image as being taken from a public place. Freedom of panorama exemptions, if they exist in a particular country, normally only apply in public places, so the presence or lack of freedom of panorama in the UAE is irrelevant to such uploads.
  • depicting only buildings or artistic work whose copyright has expired (are in the public domain), and hence are not protected by copyright. See {{PD-United Arab Emirates}}.
  • depicting only buildings which would not at the time that the image was taken meet the threshold of originality in order to be considered copyrighted. This frequently applies to buildings under construction with incomplete exterior designs.

The template takes no parameters.
