Usage

[edit]

This template helps the reader to navigate to upper categories corresponding to upper rank taxa.

Note: if you want to edit this template, first try your modifications on {{Mineralnavigation/sandbox}}.You can then test your edits in {{Mineralnavigation/testcases}}.
When the new version is ready, ask an administrator to move it to the main template. You can do that by putting a {{Edit request}} in the template talk page and explaining that the admin just needs to copy the sandbox code into the main template.

Ranks

[edit]

Singular english ranks should be used: Class, Subclass, Structural supergroup, Structural group, Division, Subdivision, Supergroup, Group, Subgroup, Family, Mineral

For intermediate ranks, use the syntax without separator like Subclass and Subgroup (not "sub-class", nor "sub class")

A structural supergroup and a structural group on Wikimedia is a supergroup/ group that crosses class or subclass boudary.

If you use incorrect ranks, the article/category will be shown in Category:Pages with incorrect mineralogy template usage.

IMA/CNMNC mineral classes/subclasses

[edit]

Only following IMA/CNMNC mineral classes/subclasses are allowed:

  • Notes:
    • Class: sulfides, selenides, tellurides is used for structural supergroups/groups in the "Nickel–Strunz classification, Class: 02" sense too
    • Class: oxides is used for structural supergroups/groups in the "Nickel–Strunz classification, Class: 04" sense too
    • Class: sulfates, selenates, tellurates is used for structural supergroups/groups in the "Nickel–Strunz classification, Class: 07" sense too
    • Class: phosphates is used for structural supergroups/groups in the "Nickel–Strunz classification, Class: 08" sense too

Content rules

[edit]
  • Rule 1: Red links:
There should be no red links unless it's very likely the category will be created in the near future. This is because taxonavigation is not a taxobox, but a help to navigate between existing hierarchical categories.

Parameter code=

[edit]

The Nickel–Strunz code comes from the 10 ed (pending publication) on Mindat.org.
