The HTML <i> italicizes all kinds of characters: however, this does not work properly with some writing systems. This template makes the use of italics conditional on the language.

lang=	Effect
ar (Arabic), ko (Korean), ja (Japanese), ko (Korean), ru (Russian), zh, zh-cn, zh-tw, zh-hans, or zh-hant (Chinese)	Text is unaffected.
anything else	Text is wrapped in <i></i>
