Frida Kahlo's works entering the Public Domain[edit]

Frida Kahlo died in 1954, which means that her work will enter the Public Domain on 1 January, 2025 in most of the world – but not in Mexico, and not in the United States.

How will the communities react?[edit]

  • The Commons community will not be able to host any of Kahlo's works.
  • The Spanish-language Wikipedia community...
  • The English-language Wikipedia community is currently hosting a number of works under its fair use rationale for the en:Frida Kahlo biography and related articles, and one pre-1929 work because its copyright has lapsed under U.S. law. It will not be able to upload any additional works in 2025.
  • The French-language Wikipedia community...
  • The German-language Wikipedia community is considering to start hosting Kahlo's complete oeuvre locally in 2025.[1]
  • The Polish-language Wikipedia community...
  • The N.N.-language Wikipedia community...

How can the communities coordinate?[edit]
