English: Routemaster bus RM1403 (reg. 403 CLT) was delivered to London Transport in January 1963. It was used in London until being withdrawn from service in March 1984. LT sold it to Coope Ltd (Benskins Breweries) for use as a promotional bus, with LT converting it to open top for them. In April 1992 it was bought for working preservation, and has passed through various owners ever since, some using it for private hire, whilst also appearing at many rallies and running events. As of 2012 it was being offered for private hires by Towcester based company A Route 2 Hire (www.route2hire.co.uk), who bought it in 2005 and named it Leyla, due to it being Leyland engined, and the only Leyland engined open top Routemaster in existance. A notable feature is that the nearside destination display that would normally be above the rear platform, is not present, and is represent by one merely painted on the bodywork, as a route 9 display. It was presumably removed in the conversion to an open topper.
