English: The New Routemaster, formerly known as the New Bus for London until 2014, a.k.a NBFL, NB4L, the LT class, the Borismaster, or Boris Bus, is the double-decker public transport bus designed specifically for use in London, intended by the instigator of the project London Mayor Boris Johnson to become a new icon of the city, in the same way the original Routemaster first produced in the 1950s did. Work on the project began in 2008; the result was a fully accessible diesel-electric hybrid, with pre-production protoypes entering service in 2012. Such was the longevity of the original version, this was just 7 years after the last standard Routemaster operated route was converted to accessible buses (route 159, in 2005), and with Heritage Routemasters still in service in the capital.
