Missed files

I had to add some missed files here: Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Galea - for some reason VFC missed to list those. It claims that the user has no uploads when I opened it up at 14:27 (when those files were still present). These files had no renames but were uploaded several times under the same name. Maybe that is the reason? Hmm. no - that is not the only(?) reason - this file is also missed but wasn't uploaded twice or trice. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 14:40, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

Should be Fixed now. It occurred when a user re-uploaded a file after its deletion. One of these actions could have affected more than one file. And the missing files were not the "problem-maker". Silly bug & sorry. -- RE rillke questions? 23:39, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Select: counter refresh

Start on log suggests your own username

replace function leads to watchlisted pages

↑ Probably due to "if (window.AjaxDeleteWatchFile) page.watchlist = 'watch';" and "var AjaxDeleteWatchFile = true;" in my monobook.js. I would like to watch file pages to which I add a problem tag - but not for all text replacements I do. Maybe a checkbox: "do not watch pages"? Or simply such a checkbox and ignore the AjaxDeleteWatchFile = true; in the user's monobook.js? Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 17:58, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

missing ] leads to messed up link

Fixed- Fixed- Now, only the pipe-symbol is escaped. This is important in templates. Pending: Don't escape it in links. It will be more difficult to forget the ] in future because Script now sends the "reason" to the parser. BTW: It was not URLencode but HTML-escape. Nur'n bissl Klugscheißerei. Maybe I triggered this problem by closing other currently open tabs while the tool was just processing / tagging. Or maybe it is because I have made me a copy User:Saibo/AjaxMassDelete.js (to work around another issue - spammed to rillke in IRC). Run: batch mode (feature idea)

Kind of related to the section Improved replacement for Cat-a-lot / testing feature above: it would be nice if VFC would have a kind of batch mode (which should be automatically switched on by default if the number of files is over ~10) which only processes a specific amount of files and then asks the user to continue or abort.

GUI idea: a "batch size" text box beneath the "proceed" button which is prefilled with "15" for anything except search and replace where it should be "1". So at Deletion request mode a simple proceed click and less than 15 files would have the same function as the script currently has. But if more than 15 files (example: 33) are selected 15 files should be processed and then a dialog box should ask

18 files are remaining. Continue? Maybe check your last edits first. 
batch size: |15| files     [proceed]  [cancel]

with the |15| again being a textbox with the (adjustable) batch number. So a simple click on proceed would again process 15 files. If instead the number is changed to e.g. "30" all remaining 18 files would be processed. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 20:28, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

This version contains a bug. (Console.log() - debug line and a security vulnerability .

Please do not delete User:Rillke/AjaxMassDelete.js. I still need it for further development.

Improved replacement for Cat-a-lot / testing feature (feature idea)

I had used VFC as improved replacement for Cat-a-lot (which often hangs for me) to move 300 files out of Category:File icons to Category:Lunar eclipse charts with the search and replace function. A minor downside was that I needed to use different find-strings to catch all different category link orders (example: "Category:File icons Category:Lunar eclipse" → Category:Lunar eclipse charts). I could have done it with less batches if I had used RegExps. ;) However, it would be helpful if the VFC window didn't close automatically and loose all settings therefore. It would have been nice in this case if it stayed open, removed the checkmarks from the processed files and I could just change the find-string and run again. This would also speed-up (and improve the test accuracy since the parameters do not need to be entered again) test edits (which are really needed with large scale edits) at a small subset of files.
