Source for the information on this map?

[edit]

Do we have a source for the information on this map? In particular, I'm wondering why the border between the North and West Germanian peoples is located at the Kongeå river. I've never seen any archaeological evidence to support the idea that the area down to the Dannevirke was not settled the same way as the rest of Denmark. During the 19th century, German nationalists repeatedly claimed that either Schleswig (the region in question) or all of Jutland had been settled by West Germanic tribes (=Germans) rather than Danes but these hypotheses have to the best of my knowledge never been backed up archaeologically. In the case that the colouring refers to the Anglians, I would like to see a source for calling them West rather than North Germanians. Regards. The source of the map is given in the description. And the map is not about North and West Germanic. It shows the Nordic Iron Age and Jastorf culture. These are archeological cultures and there's no direct connection to language. --Slomox (talk) 16:57, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Topograhpy

[edit]

The topograhpy is current-day, both for the Zuiderzee and for the Danish fjords (Limfjorden). Classical geographer (talk) 11:39, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I guess looking at the overall quality of the coastlines and other borders this is hardly relevant. --Slomox (talk) 17:47, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
