Suggestion[edit]

I’d suggest that the letterform sought here is a blend of "Œ" and "". -- Tuválkin 14:36, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No. It's a ligature of O and a weird version of E that's used in Nooalf. I decided that this Nooalf E should be the second part of the glyph because it looks like an uppercase version of a lowercase "E". The symbol ♇ on the other hand is a modification of a connected "PL". I am a Green Bee (talk) 17:06, 18 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing, but that’s about semantics of the glyph and its history. What I mean is the letterform — just like "R" and "Я" have completely different histories and meanings and yet they look very similar, thanks to Peter I’s typography reform. The same here with Nooalf and taking the shape of "♇" as a variant uppercase "e". -- Tuválkin 17:02, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, this is sort-of confirmed by checking the letterforms sampled in the (defunct) Nooalf website. Indeed the glyph shown for this letter has some rounding in it, but then again so does the glyph for, say, "Z" — which is meant to be presented as an unchanged letter, therefore suggesting that said rounding is a stylistic option for that one screen, and not the platonic form for the purported new character. -- Tuválkin 20:03, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Rename[edit]

@Gereon K.: Please do not misuse your file moving ability to enact clueless, misguided file rename requests. While File:Funny OE.png was argueably a bad filename, the new File:Latin capital letter O P with bottom bar.png is completely wrong, as you should have noticed through a cursory glance of the file description. Even if this letterform were to be used as this new filename describes, if would be a different letter. This is a form of "Œ", as the previous filename, unsuitable as it was, correctly described, and any new filname should conserve that distinction. Please undo or correct your renaming ASAP. -- Tuválkin 18:20, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Tuválkin. You object the new name. I respect that. Calling my move a "misuse" is unneccessary harsh. What name would you suggest for the file? The term "funny" in this case is not a good name, that's for sure. --Gereon K. (talk) 18:58, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’d go for Nooalf"Œ".png. -- Tuválkin 19:02, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
