Wasn’t allowed to upload a new version[edit]

@Aeroid: I tried to upload a new version of this file to replace the colour of the national Free Voters with the colour of the Free Voters of Bavaria, as the latter is the actual party in the state government. I also wanted to replace the colours of the other parties with those used in Module:Political party, which are slightly different. I got an error saying I didn’t have the right to upload a new version, suggesting I uploaded “the new version under a new name”. Perhaps you can help me correct the colours, or you can correct them yourself? Brainiac242 (talk) 19:16, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Brainiac242: Thanks for caring! This is a little bit of a issue, that you are raising here. The purpose of the diagram is to have one single file to keep up to date with the ever-changing seats in the Bunderat due to state-level elections for as many languages as possible.
You are rightly raising the point of the different color-schemes per Wikipedia languages. The current color scheme is the german one German Wikipedia election diagram color scheme ... of course ;-)
Both colors are noted in Wikidata sRGB color hex triplet.
Let me please look into this, before we fork the unified SVG again. Do you know if all English-language use the english Module:Political party color scheme?
PS: I don't know why you wouldn't be allowed to upload. Aeroid (talk) 10:02, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Aeroid: The entire English Wikipedia does use Module:Political party. Whenever someone needs the colour of a party they use Template:Party color, which automatically uses whichever colour a party has assigned in the Module. You can go to the article of any election and see that template being used dozens of time. Brainiac242 (talk) 15:56, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Brainiac242: Yes, understood.
The colors are:
Freie Wähler (Q327389)

"FW(BV)" German wikipedia

"FW" English wikipedia
Free Voters of Bavaria (Q1231839)

"FWB" German wikipedia

"FWB" English wikipedia
First of all I would opt to change the teal for Free Voters of Bavaria (Q1231839) to be changed to orange in enwiki.
Maybe that's the easiest solution. Aeroid (talk) 18:30, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
