Arabic category[edit]

The discussion moved from User talk:ŠJů#File:Arab Liberation Army.svg. --ŠJů (talk) 12:45, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stop adding nonsense to the categories. Since there's a substantial possibility that it was a purely fictional emblem created by a non-Arab, "Arab culture" is extremely irrelevant. AnonMoos (talk) 15:52, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think, images at Commons should by categorized also by their theme, not only by their creator. I don't know the origin and purpose of this logo but if it should symbolize an Arabic organization then it should be categorized also in the best suitable of Arabic categories, no matter whether the logo is factual or fictional. I understand that such categorization can be considered libellous but surely not irrelevant. --ŠJů (talk) 00:02, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In the Wikimedia Commons categorization system, "Arab culture" categories are not commonly added to even real veridical emblems or coats of arms of Arab governments or entities, so I really don't know why they would be added to phoney fake emblems. AnonMoos (talk) 04:24, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also fictional subject (if they have their depiction at Commons), should be categorized by their content and theme. A logo of Arab Liberation Army, no matter whether real or fictional, has undeniable relation to Arabic themes. If you will find some more specific Arabic category, you can move the image there, but for now, "Arab culture" seems to be most suitable. If the delete proposal was not accepted, the delete desire shouldn't be asserted indirectly through sabotage of standard thematic categorization. E. g., fictional flag of France also belong to the category of Flags of France, fictional ships belong to the category of ships etc. Fictional logo of a real Arabic organization belong to the category of such organization - and, if such category doesn't exist, in the proximate superior Arabic category.--ŠJů (talk) 12:43, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Source link is a faked picture[edit]

The link that someone added lately to the picture to show it's "source" is a faked/doctored picture. The symbol is painted/pasted over the natural sunlight-cast shadows present in the original photograph of the truck. See here.-- Darwin Ahoy! 17:04, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is obvious when we zoom this. Shadow has been painted in white !
I suggest we add this in the image description. Noisetier (talk) 19:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming[edit]

This drawing should be renamed with something that is more factual and fits more what can be seen on this picture. I suggest : "dagger stabbing a Magen David". Noisetier (talk) 19:16, 23 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I conclude that nobody is opposed to the renaming and I will start the process within 7 days. Noisetier (talk) 10:51, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
What you should conclude is that everybody except you thinks that Commons:Deletion requests/File:Arab Liberation Army.svg is currently the proper forum to discuss such issues. It's pointless to attempt any rename until the deletion process runs its course one way or the other... AnonMoos (talk) 11:31, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
