Summary[edit]

Description
English: The interior of a ward at the St. Louis Female Hospital in 1904, showing patients, visitors, and nurses. First opened as the "Social Evil" Hospital in 1872, so-named for an law about prostitution also authorizing the hospital. It was renamed the Female Hospital two years after it opened in 1874 and closed in 1915 when it was demolished. It was located at the corner or Arsenal and Sublette streets and sat on the land that became Sublette Park.
