Description |
The farmhouse of Untere Walkenmatte, a block building, built around 1750 with a magnificent, wide gable front. The picture detail shows an arcade frieze in flat cut with a green ground; above this, also in flat cut, a fantasy frieze with a black contour line with white semicircles on a green ground; above this, a red and green cube frieze under a green and red diamond frieze under a rhythmically broken carving line with a sharp contour and white areas. Flat cuts are made after marking the contours with a chisel foot by cutting away flat or chiseling out the surfaces of the objects to be depicted with a carving knife, gouge or chisel. The decorative motifs are part of the more progressive trend of the older Simmental style. This more progressive direction set in during the 1730s, especially in the lower Simmental and the Diemtigtal. |
