| Description |
The farmhouse of Untere Walkenmatte, a block building, built around 1750 with a magnificent, wide gable front. It is richly decorated as a wide splendid façade, a two-part inscription in fracture runs across the entire width. White-green painted cube friezes under painted kneelers above the lintels and in the parapets and painted floral friezes emphasise the vertical. Other motifs are: the flower tendril, the bouquet in a vase, the Bernese bear in the gable field and stars in the soffit. The decorative motifs are part of the more progressive trend of the older Simmental style. This more progressive direction set in during the 1730s, especially in the lower Simmental and the Diemtigtal. |
