Description
English: A foghorn is a fog signal that uses sound to warn vehicles of navigational hazards in foggy conditions. The term is most often used in relation to marine transport.

This foghorn was used to help the fishing boats to navigate back to the harbour. It was operating when the visibility was lower than two nautical miles (3 704 meters). The foghorn house, in local dialect “Tudehuset”, was built 1959. Replacing an older hand driven foghorn installed 1933.
The foghorn was in use until beginning of 1990s.

A compressor delivers compressed air to a program control that regulates the signals.
The signal is a tone at about 360 Hertz and a sound circle of 60 seconds.

Signal Schedule:
Tone 1,5 seconds
Silence 2 seconds
Tone 4 seconds
Silence 52,5 seconds

118 dB recorded from 5 meters distance
