4to. XI pp, (1), 76 pp. Contemp cartonnato. Sole edition. Apparently the only printed source on the life of Maria Giuliana Alessi, a noblewoman educated in a convent school from the ages of 8-17. Like so many other women drawn to religion in the Early Modern period, Alessi suffered from debilitating illness and was not permitted to become professed as a nun. Nevertheless, she managed to join the Third Order Augustinins (secular rather than cloistered) and lived out the few remaining years of her life under the nom de religion Suor Chiara Crocifissa Alessi in her family residence. She died around the age of 22.
