« Vue en direction sud de la partie est de la face arrière (nord) de la villa Beauvoir, située au 2315, chemin Saint-Louis, Québec. La villa est située sur le site d'un ancien domaine qui faisait partie de la terre des Jésuites. Beauvoir a eu comme premier propriétaire Andrew William Cochran (vers 1793-1849), avocat et membre du Conseil exécutif, originaire de Windsor, en Nouvelle-Écosse. À la mort de Cochran, la propriété passe à Henry Lemesurier junior qui s'empresse d'y faire construire une villa. Rasée par les flammes en 1866, elle sera reconstruite à l'identique. Cinq ans plus tard, Richard Reid Dobell (1837-1902), commerçant de bois et député libéral à la Chambre des communes, acquiert le domaine et les terrains adjacents. Il fait aussi remodeler la villa, désormais dotée d'une serre et agrandie d'une aile. La famille Dobell y habite jusqu'en 1921. Le domaine appartient ensuite à l'école apostolique Notre-Dame, puis, à partir de 1929, aux Pères maristes, qui y installent leur juvénat.
