Description
English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented. – The closing of the hole between the extended dikes of Urk and Lemmer in the IJsselmeer, which created the edge of the new northeastern polder and made Urk from an island into a peninsula. SHOTS: - Urk (seen from the water); - map of the IJsselmeer, on the location of the new dike is shown (from Lemmer, via Urk, underneath Schokland to the mainland); - dredging machines ("Essex") dredging up boulder clay near Lemmer and Urk. The boulder clay will be used for the construction of the dike; - sand and water is transported from a sand sucker into tanks by using a large mouth piece; - dike is raised with mixture; - men make fascine mattresses; - fascine mattresses are placed next to the dike which is still under construction; - supply of building materials (rubble and stones) from a boat via the fascine matresses to the dike; -workers hacking basalt stones; - dumping of clay by using a crane with grab; - smack sails by dike; - small motor boat sails through small opening in the dike; - grabbers at work supplying the last amounts of clay and the closing of the dike in the presence of some decorated ships; - some supervisors; - mayor of Urk, G. Keijzer (right) and mayor of Lemsterland, M. Krijger, shake hands on a plank that has been put over a small opening in the dike; - man and woman in traditional attire from Urk look out over the water with the new dike.
Nederlands: Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd. – Het dichten van het gat tussen de uitgebouwde dijken van Urk en Lemmer in het IJsselmeer, waardoor de grens van een nieuwe noordoostelijke polder ontstond en Urk van eiland tot een schiereiland werd. SHOTS: - Urk (gezien vanaf water); - kaart van het IJsselmeer, waarop wordt aangegeven waar de nieuwe dijk zal worden gebouwd (van Lemmer, via Urk, onder Schokland door naar het vasteland); - baggermolens ("Essex") bij Lemmer en Urk, die keileem opbaggeren. De keileem zal gebruikt worden voor de bouw van de dijk; - vanaf zandzuiger wordt met groot mondstuk een mengsel van zand en water in bakken gespoten; - dijk wordt met mengsel opgespoten; - mannen maken zinkstukken; - zinkstukken worden naast de in aanleg zijnde dijk geplaatst; - aanvoer van bouwmaterialen (puin en stenen) vanaf een boot via de zinkstukken naar dijk; - arbeiders hakken basaltkeien klein; - storten van klei mbv hijskraan met grijper: - botter vaart langs dijk; - motorbootje vaart door smalle opening in dijk; - grijpers bezig met het aanvoeren van de laatste hoeveelheden klei en de sluiting van de dijk in aanwezigheid van enkele versierde schepen; - enkele opzichters; - burgemeester van Urk, G. Keijzer (rechts) en burgemeester van Lemsterland, M. Krijger, schudden elkaar de hand boven een plank die over een kleine opening in de dijk is gelegd; - man en vrouw in Urkse klederdracht kijken uit over het water met de nieuwe dijk.
