English: Scale ca. 1:130,000. LC Civil War Maps (2nd ed.), 245.17 Another edition. Map, extends from Frederick, Maryland, west to Winchester, Virginia, and Hagerstown, Maryland, south to Front Royal, Virginia. Depicted are roads, railroads, canals, drainage, houses, cities and towns, and relief by hachures. In some areas, countryside is described by terms such as "hilly & wooded country," "open country," etc. Includes border. Inset: Strasburg to Manassas Gap from recent survey. 15 x 24 cm. This map was acquired by the Library of Congress in 1948 with the purchase of the papers and maps of Maj. Jedediah Hotchkiss. Hand-colored to show major rivers in blue and some roads and railroads in red. A few place names have been added in red ink. Description derived from published bibliography. Available also through the Library of Congress web site as raster image. |
