Description
Deutsch: Von 1547 bis 1549 wurde ein künstlicher Triftkanal in den kleinen Felsrücken des sogenannten Rotecks, zwischen Toplitz- und Kammersee, geschlagen. Der gesamte Kanal ist etwa 140 Meter lang. Das aus dem Felsrücken geschlagene prägnante Teilstück hat eine Länge von 97 Metern, eine Breite von zwei Metern und die Kanalsohle liegt im Durchschnitt sechs Meter, an einigen Stellen sogar bis zu neun Meter tief. Der Schwemmkanal zählt zu den ältesten technischen Denkmälern Österreichs und steht unter Denkmalschutz.
English: From 1547 to 1549, an artificial drift canal was cut into the small rocky ridge of the so-called Roteck, between lake Toplitz (Toplitzsee) and lake Kammer (Kammersee). The entire canal is about 140 meters long. The striking section carved out of the rock ridge is 97 meters long, two meters wide and on average six meters deep, in some places even up to nine meters deep. The canal is one of the oldest technical monuments in Austria and is listed as a protected monument.
