English: LIBI_00019_00178; This item is a card-mounted albumen photograph of three Sioux warriors, two seated and one standing. The subjects are holding two United States Cavalry sabers and a Sharp's carbine. The full view photograph is 5 1/4 x 7 1/4" ( 8 x 10" mounted) and was produced circa 1879. The photograph is attributable to David F. Barry. Some foxing is evident on both the front and the verso. On the front, a watermark is positioned on the right side of the photograph. On the verso, a handwritten notation in pencil reads: "These are Sioux warriors such as General Custer fought. They wear no leggings or blankets in a fight. They have only the breach clout fastened about their loins/No. 5."
